What happens next depends on one thing: whether the product was built by coders or by engineers. At Project360 Software, we hire engineers. Here is what that difference means, and why it matters to every business that trusts us with its product.

What a coder does

A coder turns instructions into working code. Give a good coder a clear task, such as "add a login page" or "connect Paystack checkout", and they will make it work. That is a real and valuable skill, and every engineer starts there.

But a coder's focus usually ends at the question does it work? The code passes the test on their machine, the button does what it should, and the ticket is closed. Questions about what happens at ten times the traffic, who maintains this in a year, or how an attacker might abuse this endpoint often go unasked.

The result is software that works today and becomes expensive tomorrow.

What an engineer does

An engineer writes code too, but treats code as one part of a system that must keep working under real conditions. Before writing a line, an engineer asks:

Scale: Will this database design still be fast at a million records?
Reliability: What happens when a third-party API times out or a network drops mid-transaction?
Security: How could this be abused, and what data is exposed if it is?
Maintainability: Can another developer understand and safely change this in six months?
Trade-offs: Is this the simplest solution that meets the business goal, or just the most interesting one to build?

Engineering is the discipline of making deliberate decisions. A coder solves the task in front of them. An engineer solves the problem behind the task, and documents why.

Why this matters even more in Nigeria

Building software for the Nigerian market leaves little room for shortcuts. Our engineers design for conditions a tutorial never mentions:

Payments that must never double-charge. When a Paystack or Flutterwave webhook arrives twice, or not at all, an engineered system reconciles it correctly. A coded one credits the wallet twice or loses the customer's money.
Unstable networks. Users switch between 4G, 3G and no signal. Engineered apps handle retries, timeouts and offline states gracefully instead of freezing on a spinner.
Regulation and compliance. Fintech, savings and banking products must respect CBN guidelines, KYC requirements and data protection rules from day one. Retrofitting compliance is slow and costly.
Fast, unpredictable growth. A product that goes viral on Twitter or WhatsApp overnight needs a backend that scales, not one that collapses on its best day.

In this environment, a bug is rarely just a bug. It is lost revenue, lost trust, and sometimes a regulatory problem.

Why Project360 hires engineers

Project360 Software builds products end to end: UI/UX design, web and mobile frontends, backend systems, database architecture and deployment. We also run our own fintech and SaaS ventures, so we live with the consequences of our technical decisions every day. That is why we hire for engineering judgement, not just coding speed.

What we look for when hiring:

System thinking. We ask candidates to design, not just implement. How would you structure a wallet ledger? How would you handle a failed payment callback?
Security instinct. Engineers who think about authentication, authorization, input validation and data exposure without being reminded.
Clear communication. An engineer who can explain a trade-off to a client in plain language is worth more than one who writes clever code nobody understands.
Ownership. People who care what happens after deployment: monitoring, performance, and the next developer who opens the codebase.
Continuous learning. Our coding education arm keeps the whole team sharp, and we expect engineers to keep growing.

What this means for our clients:

Architecture planned before code is written, so your product can grow without a costly rebuild.
Payment, KYC and compliance flows designed with failure cases in mind.
Clean, documented codebases you can hand to any competent team in the future.
Honest advice, including when a cheaper or simpler solution fits your goal better.

The bottom line

Anyone can get an app built. The real question is whether it will still serve your business when your users multiply, your regulators come calling, and your team needs to ship the next big feature.

Coders build software that works. Engineers build software that lasts. At Project360 Software, we choose engineers because our clients deserve products that grow with them, not products they will have to rebuild.
